How the Penalty Fees Work
- Several fees come with the Ameren electric bill.
- Late Payment Fee (Illinois): If you don’t make the payment by the due date, you have to pay the late payment fees of 1.5% of the past due date.
- Returned Payment Fee (Illinois): If your check is returned by the bank due to an insufficient balance, then you have to pay the return check fees of $15.
- Returned Check Fee (Missouri): Per returned check, you have to pay the $10.
